About Me
My name is Dianna Hochella
I’m a passionate music educator who loves inspiring students through vocal music, world drumming, and drama. For many years, I’ve had the joy of teaching Vocal Music and World Drumming at Clague Middle School in Ann Arbor and serving as Assistant Director and Conductor of the Detroit Opera Youth Chorus (formerly MOTCC). I hold a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Radford University in Virginia and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Michigan.
Beyond the classroom, I’ve performed with the Michigan Opera Theatre Chorus in numerous mainstage productions—including the world premieres of Cyrano and Margaret Garner—and have conducted children’s operas at the Detroit Opera House, such as The Hobbit and H.M.S. Pinafore. At Clague, I’ve also directed the Drama Club in productions like Alice in Wonderland and Matilda.
Every day with my students is an opportunity to explore music, culture, style, and life skills together. I believe in creating an environment where learning is joyful, creativity is celebrated, and each student can discover their own unique voice—both on stage and in life.
